Chapman Memorial Baptist - Staff

John was born to Steve & Judy Thomas on October 18, 1970 in Nettie, WV. He gave his heart to Jesus Christ in 1979 at the age of 8. As a senior at Richwood High School, he surrendered his life to the ministry.

John graduated from Alderson-Broaddus College with a B.A. in Christian Studies and was ordained in 1992. In March 1993, he married his wife, Kim, and attended Beeson Divinity School in Birmingham, AL from 1993-1997. He is currently seeking a M.A. in Christian Counseling at Gordon-Conwell Theological Seminary.

John & Kim have three children: Shayne, Jacob & Abbey.

Joe was born to Joel Lee and Carma Blaine Abernathy on May 25, 1944. His father was a charter member of Chapman.

Joe is retired from Jefferson-Pilot Communications Company, where he was Vice President of Information Technologies. He received his Bachelor of Science Degree in Engineering, Electrical option, in 1970.

In September, 1979, he married Phyllis Kay Weaver Yow. Between Joe's children Scott and Kim, and Kay's children, Jimmy, Sharon and Dean, Joe and Kay have a total of 14 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren.

When not serving the Lord managing the Church's finances, Joe is usually riding one of his two Harley Davidsons, yakking on his ham radio (call sign AB4WF) , or building and flying RC model airplanes!

Linda was born in Chesterfield, SC and moved to Charlotte, NC in 1966.  After accepting Jesus as her Savior in 1986, her heart's desire was to work for God.  Linda has worked in several secular positions and has two daughters, Christie DuBose and Robin Hall and two beautiful grandsons.

Linda has been a member of Chapman Memorial for 19 years and became secretary in September of 2003.  Linda loves people and has a servant's heart.  She is always ready to listen to anyone and always offers kind, encouraging words.
